Overview
ESPN 8: The Ocho is an annual day of programming on ESPN2 in which the network showcases unique and seldom-seen sports. The name is inspired by the 2004 film Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story, in which a dodgeball tournament is broadcast on a parody ESPN channel called “ESPN 8: The Ocho.”

In Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story, released June 18th, 2004, the film’s climactic dodgeball tournament is broadcast on a parody ESPN channel called ESPN 8: The Ocho. The announcers for the channel are Cotton McKnight and Pepper Brooks, and Brooks is the origin of the Bold Move Cotton meme.
